I’m Jas, an illustrator currently based in South-East London after receiving a degree in Illustration from Ravensbourne and pursuing art at secondary school and A-Level. My work is inspired by a lifelong fascination with all things theatre and often involves other topics meaningful to me, like nature, queer themes, and mental health/neurodiversity. I create using both digital and analogue methods, though I especially love the organic process of drawing with colour pencils. I've focused particularly on portraiture and life-drawing and I have always been drawn to capturing the stage; I have such passion for the dramatic, and love to translate theatrical moments into my own visual language.

I have grown up around Bermondsey and Rotherhithe, an area that has a rich history and has been home to many generations of my family. Witnessing the impacts of gentrification here is difficult, and is another issue that I am passionate about. Multiculturalism is another topic close to my heart, being from a mixed race background - Indonesian and English - and having seen the amalgamation of cultures that make up London. The intersection of these identities has always been puzzling and compelling to me.

Since graduating, my work has consisted of producing content and design assets for social media as well as working on organic social strategy. My personal work remains focused on the theatre and also, more recently, exploring my identity through drawing.
